Security

The Swedbank Group is heavily dependent on the public's confidence. The main part of this is our customer's trust in the bank and its security systems.
The rapid expansion in electronic communications has revolutionized the way we work and deal with you, our customers. At Swedbank, information security is of paramount importance and our employees are fully aware of their responsibilities in keeping customer information safe and secure. Whether you choose to deal with us online, over the telephone or in person, we follow rigorous security procedures and use state- of –the- art technology to protect your information and transactions against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and misuse.

The Bank complies with the laws and rules concerning administration of personal information, bank secrecy, security and cookies.

Shared Responsibility

We use state-of-the-art technology and follow numerous security procedures to protect your account from any unauthorized transactions.
Our security practices are regularly reviewed and we routinely employ current technologies to ensure that the confidentiality and privacy of your information is not compromised.

While we do our utmost to ensure security and confidentiality, there are steps you can take as well to enhance your security when using the Internet and our products.

Remember

  • Choose passwords that are difficult for anyone to guess. Do not use your personal identification number or birthday as your PIN/password. Keep passwords and PINs safe and secret. Never write your passwords down, memorize them and do not keep any codes with your card or security token. Change the password frequently if possible.
  • Be aware of unsolicited e-mails or calls asking you to disclose any personal details or card numbers. Keep this information secret. Be aware of disclosing any personal information to someone you do not know. Your bank and the police would never contact you to ask you to disclose PINs or your passwords.
  • Please be aware that Swedbank never will ask you to provide confidential information through regular e-mail or unsecured homepages. If you receive an e-mail that asks you to provide any personal information, like your credit card or account numbers, passwords or personal number (to name a few), do not respond or click on any links provided.
  • Keep your PC secure. Use up-to-date anti-virus software and a personal firewall. Make sure you download the latest security updates (or patches) for your web browser and operating system. Manufacturers regularly release security patches when weaknesses are discovered in their systems and browsers. Be extra careful if using Internet cafés or any PC which is not yours and over which you have no control.
  • Be careful when opening e-mails, surfing the web and downloading files from the Internet (MSN and elsewhere). Be extra careful when opening files with .exe, .com, .bat, .pif and .zip extensions from unknown individuals or addresses. These files may introduce viruses and spyware into your computer.
  • Always log-out after using the online services (select the log-out button) and never leave your PC unattended while you are logged into the service.
