About Swedbank

Man in an office, woman in background

Swedbank's roots are firmly planted in the history of Sweden’s savings banks and the cooperative agricultural bank tradition. We have relationships with about 7.3 million private customers and about 618,000 corporate customers. This makes us the bank in Sweden with the most customers and also with a leading position in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

As a major bank, we are an important part of the financial system and play an important role in the local communities in which we are active. We are committed to a sound and sustainable financial development not only for our customers but also for society in general.

Our history in brief

We have helped our customers save and borrow for a better future for almost 200 years. The world has changed and we with it. However, the need for a responsible bank is just as great today as it was at the beginning of the 19th century.

We aspire to be a leading bank within sustainability. What is long-term sustainable is also long-term profitable for customers, business and society. We work to constantly broaden our customers' knowledge to enable them to make sustainable choices – private, corporate and institutional.

Societal engagement

We have a long tradition of helping people achieve a sound and sustainable financial situation. Through our own initiatives and with our partners, we educate youths about personal finance and entrepreneurship. Another of our priorities is contributing towards digital inclusion for more people in society.

Swedbank strives to reduce the bank's climate impact. We do this directly through our own operations, where travel and heating of Swedbank's branch offices make up the largest part, and indirectly through customers and their operations, their choice of products and services.

Human rights

We will always work to respect human rights throughout all business functions: our employees, our business relations and our supplier engagements.
